Chris Paul proved the midrange jumper is alive and well in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. CP3 was in total control, taking shots the Bucks were comfortable giving him and making them pay. Paul’s future Hall of Fame career has taken place smack in the middle of the three-point revolution, largely driven by analytics and the simple math equation that 3 is greater than 2. But those analytics also encourage players to take whatever shots they can make efficiently, and Chris Paul is one of the most efficient midrange shooters ever.
What’s more, CP3 isn’t the only midrange maestro on the Suns as Devin Booker has also shown he can be automatic from that spot. After dropping Game 1, Milwaukee may want to rethink its defensive strategy vs. Phoenix.
